how do you make a hedge from shredded coconut for a gingerbread house?
I am making a gingerbread house for christmas and have seen some decorating ideas that include making a garden hedge from shredded coconut. I know how to dye it green but how do you get the coconut to stick so it can be sculpted into a hedge?
- you may want to use sugar cubes and then put icing on it to keep the coconut on
- You can make an edible "glue" out of: 2 T water plus 2 T meringue powder.
If you don't have meringue powder, then whip together 3 egg whites, 1/2 tsp cream of tarter and 4 cups powdered sugar. This stuff dries hard and is terrific for affixing things to cakes and for decorating gingerbread men etc. You might consider coloring a portion of it to match your hedge colors.
