What would be a pet/child friendly treatment to keep fleas out of my apartment?
My apartment has a walk out patio, however it is lower than ground which means insects can get in easier. My cat has a lot of fur on him making it easy for fleas to hide. Can someone give me some ideas? thanks to all who answer!
- First off is your cat treated with a spot on flea treatment? if not you need to do that first.
Then comes the fleas in the house, vaccuum daily, everything.
our new house was infested with fleas when we moved in, took months to get rid,
in the end i found putting nemotades (microscopic worms harmless to humans and animals)
down in the garden killed them off.
also i put down flea powder under sofas, etc.
could you trim the cats fur or does he need to look furry?
- My sister has a Labrador and she hates it having fleas so first thing she bought it made sure it didn't have fleas and put this thing like a collar but it is flea proof so I guess you could search on that. So you could get a dog. Also think about getting a guinea pig since it is less fragile then a hamster and can be trained not to bite and be in a plastic ball. Guinea pigs don't bite unless they are hurt or feel threatened. Good Luck with finding your pet!
